Chester Taylor enlisted in the Naval Reserve in 1948 and served until 1952 when he received his juris doctorate degree from the University of Minnesota and received a direct appointment as a second lieutenant in the Air Force Reserve. He retired in 1981 as a U.S. Air Force Brigadier General.
