(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Second Lieutenant (Air Corps) Eugene B. Sterling, United States Army Air Forces, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight while serving as a C-47 Transport Pilot in the Middle East, and subsequently as a C-47 Pilot in support of Merrill’s Marauders in the China-Burma-India Theater of Operations during World War II. He participated in the air landing of the first troops and the evacuation of wounded. His devotion to duty and courage under all conditions serve as an inspiration to his fellow flyers. His actions reflect the highest credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.
