(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Brigadier General Willum Harry Spillers, Jr., United States Air Force, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Director for the C-5 Category III Joint Test Task Force at Charleston Air Force Base, South Carolina. In this position, he headed a team composed of representatives from the Army, Military Airlift Command, Air Force Systems Command and Air Force Logistics Command in evaluating the C-5 aircraft in its operational environment. During this period, he directed and was commander for the first operational C-5 missions to both the Pacific and Atlantic areas. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of General Spillers and his dedicated contributions in the service of his country reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
