(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Second Lieutenant (Air Corps) Ralph Scott Saunders, United States Army Air Forces, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight while serving as a B-24 Flight Officer in the 855th Bombardment Squadron, 491st Bombardment Group, EIGHTH Air Force, in action during 35 combat missions over enemy-occupied Continental Europe during World War II.
