(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant Colonel Malcom Edward Ryan, Jr., United States Air Force, was awarded a Third Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Fourth Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-100 Pilot and Operations Staff Officer and later as Assistant Deputy Commander for Operations for the 31st Tactical Fighter Wing, Tuy Hoa Air Base, Republic of Vietnam; and subsequently with Headquarters, SEVENTH Air Force, Tuy Hoa Air Base, during 206 combat missions over Southeast Asia from 1968 to 1970. His devotion to duty and courage under all conditions serve as an inspiration to his fellow flyers. His actions reflect the highest credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.
