John Rosa was commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program in 1973 upon graduation from The Citadel, where he had been starting quarterback for the Bulldogs football team. From 2003 to 2005 he served as the 16th Superintendent of the United States Air Force Academy. He retired in 2005 as a U.S. Air Force Lieutenant General and returned to The Citadel in 2006 as its 19th President.
