James Roan was commissioned as a first lieutenant in September 1960 and served as assistant staff judge advocate at Headquarters Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center, Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, until 1965. He retired in 1995 as a U.S. Air Force Brigadier General.
