The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Soldier’s Medal to Private First Class William A. Grenia (ASN: AF-17275015), United States Air Force, for heroism at Spokane, Washington, on 6 January 1951. While awaiting a ride to his Air Base, Private Grenia noticed an automobile, speeding out of control, bearing down upon two fellow airmen. Although clear of the vehicle’s path himself, he rushed to the aid of his companions, pushing one of them to safety, and as a result sustained serious injuries. His prompt and heroic action, with complete disregard for his own personal safety, reflect great credit upon himself, his organization, and the United States Air Force.
