(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Major James Mauran Rhodes, Jr., United States Air Force, was awarded a Second Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Third Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight while serving as an F-105 Instructor Pilot at Takhli Royal Thai Air Force Base, Thailand, during 65 combat missions over North Vietnam in 1964; and subsequently as a Flight Commander with the 8th Special Operations Squadron (Fighter) at Bien Hoa Air Base, Republic of Vietnam from 1970 to 1971.
