(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Colonel Don Dail Pittman, United States Air Force, was awarded a Second Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Third Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight while serving as Operations Officer and Commander of the 429th Tactical Fighter Squadron, Bien Hoa Air Base, South Vietnam, from 1965 to 1966; and subsequently as and F-100 Pilot and Commander of the 385th Tactical Fighter Squadron from 1967 to 1968, in 277 combat missions over Southeast Asia. His devotion to duty and courage under all conditions serve as an inspiration to his fellow flyers. His actions reflect the highest credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of the United States.
