John Peters served in World War II as an Army Engineer Officer, and left active duty after the war. He returned to active duty in 1947, and in 1949 was assigned as installations office for the 6472d Installations Squadron in the Far East Command. He retired in 1973 as a U.S. Air Force Brigadier General.
