Waymond Nutt was commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program in 1951 upon graduation from Texas A & M University. As a fighter pilot during the Korean War he was credited with destroying one enemy MiG aircraft in aerial combat He retired in 1985 as a U.S. Air Force Major General.
