Robert Norris was commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program in 1955 upon graduation from the University of Alabama. From 1985 to 1988 he served as the 8th Judge Advocate General of the Air Force. He retired in 1988 as a U.S. Air Force Major General.
