Sean Murphy graduated from the U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, Colorado, Class of 1981, and received his Doctor of Medicine Degree from the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences, Bethesda, Maryland, in 1985. He retired in 2021 as a U.S. Air Force Major General.
