The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in addition to a previously awarded Silver Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Seventh Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross with Combat “V” to Colonel Carl S. Miller (AFSN: FR-45411), United States Air Force, for heroism while participating in aerial flight while serving as an F-4D Pilot of the 8th Tactical Fighter Wing, Ubon Royal Thai Air Force Base, Thailand, in action over North Vietnam on 24 June 1972. On that date Colonel Miller led a flight of fighter aircraft flying a strike mission deep in enemy territory. Despite repeated attacks on his formation by enemy fighters, Colonel Miller continued his attack on the assigned target, delivering his bombs accurately on target with devastating results. The outstanding heroism and selfless devotion to duty displayed by Colonel Miller reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
