Miles, United States Air Force, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an armed hostile force while serving as an F-100 Pilot of the 614th Tactical Fighter Squadron, Phan Rang Air Base, Republic of Vietnam, in action against the enemy over Southeast Asia from 1967 to 1968.
