Maye, United States Air Force, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action while engaged in military operations involving conflict with an armed hostile force while serving as a UH-1F helicopter Aircraft Commander in the 20th Special Operations Squadron, Nha Trang Air Base, Republic of Vietnam, in action against the enemy over Southeast Asia in 1968.
