Timothy Jex was commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program in 1983 upon graduation from Brigham Young University, and received his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in 1987. He retired in 2016 as a U.S. Air Force Brigadier General.
