Walter Giller served on active duty in the Air Force from 1968 to 1976, and was recalled to active duty in January 1991 for Operation DESERT SHIELD as the Command Surgeon for Tactical Air Command in CONUS sustainment medical activities as well as reach echelon SESERT SHIELD operations. He retired in 1998 as a U.S. Air Force Major General.
