John Flournoy was commissioned through the Reserve Officer Training Corps program in 1986 upon graduation from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, Illinois. In 2012 he was appointed a U.S. Air Force Brigadier General and in 2015 received his second star as a Major General.
