William Flood served with the Aviation Section of the American Expeditionary Forces during World War I. On December 7, 1941, he was wounded during the Japanese attack on Wheeler Field, Hawaii. After serving in the Army Air Forces in World War II, he retired as a U.S. Army Air Forces Brigadier General.
