Mark Ediger was commissioned as a Medical Officer in the Air Force in 1985. In 2008 he was appointed a U.S. Air Force Brigadier General; he received his second star in 2012, and in 2015 received his third star as a Lieutenant General. In 2015 he ws appointed the 22d Surgeon General of the Air Force.
