Clinton Davies served as a Private in the U.S. Army in 1918 before he was discharged to pursue studies as the University of Wisconsin. After graduation, in 1923 he was appointed an aviation cadet and received his commission the following year. After serving in the Army Air Forces in World War II, he transferred to the U.S. Air Force when it became a separate branch of service in 1947. He retired in the 1950’s as a U.S. Air Force Brigadier General.
