John Piotrowski enlisted in the Air Force in 1952 and was commissioned through the Aviation Cadet Program in 1954. He served as a fighter pilot during 100 combat missions during the Vietnam War, From 1985 to 1987 he served as the 22d Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force. He retired in 1990 as a U.S. Air Force 4-Star General. He retired in 1990 as a U.S. Air Force 4-Star General.
