(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Major Merrill Anthony McPeak, United States Air Force, was awarded the Silver Star for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving as an F-100D Pilot with the 612th Tactical Fighter Squadron, and later as Commander, Operation Commando Sabre (Misty Fast FACs), Phu Cat Air Base, Republic of Vietnam, in Southeast Asia in 1969. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Air Force.
