(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: General Merrill Anthony McPeak, United States Air Force, was awarded the Air Force Distinguished Service Medal for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States as Commander, TWELFTH Air Force and Commander, U.S. Southern Command Air Forces, Bergstrom Air Force Base, Texas; and subsequently as Commander in Chief, Pacific Air Forces, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, from 1987 to 1990. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of General McPeak and his dedicated contributions in the service of his country reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
