The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Technical Sergeant Ernest M. Jordan (ASN: 18063409), United States Army Air Forces, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Radio Operator/Gunner on a B-17 Flying Fortress on many high altitude heavy bombardment missions over enemy occupied Continental Europe during World War II. By expertly operating his radio equipment during long hours of combat and by warding off vicious fighter attacks with his gun, Sergeant Jordan made a substantial contribution to the success of these operations. The heroic determination and disregard of personal safety displayed by Sergeant Jordan on all these occasions reflect the highest credit upon himself and the Military Forces of the United States.
