The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit to Colonel Bert N. Smiley, United States Air Force, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States with the Far East Air Forces in Korea, from 26 September 1950 to 25 February 1951. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of Major DeStasion reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
