An American citizen living in Canada, Wilfred Beaver flew with the RFC and RAF during World War I, becoming a TRIPLE Ace with 19 confirmed victories over enemy aircraft. He tied with Captain Harold Kullberg as the second-ranking American ACE in the RAF. During World War II he served as a Major in the U.S. Army Air Forces and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1946. He subsequently served in the U.S. Air Force Reserve from 1949 to 1955.
