    World War II

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to First Lieutenant (Field Artillery) George R. Crick, United States Army, for gallantry in action in North Africa during World War II. Lieutenant Crick, after a heavy enemy artillery fire destroyed a section of communications and rendered control over the battery extremely difficult, moved from section to section, exposed to enemy fire, and assembled the remaining elements of the battery and moved them forward to accomplish the assigned mission. His prompt, courageous action resulted in sufficient artillery fire to repulse an enemy tank attack at a critical moment. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
