The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Corporal Stanley Sikorski (MCSN: 371821), United States Marine Corps, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity while serving as a Truck Driver and Section Leader of the Second Motor Transport Battalion, SECOND Marine Division, in action against enemy Japanese forces on Saipan, Mariana Islands, 8 July 1944. When several of our tanks beyond the front lines ran out of fuel and ammunition, Corporal Sikorski voluntarily crossed a mined cane field to deliver the supplies to the tanks and, although subjected to heavy enemy mortar and rifle fire, assisted the tank personnel in refueling the vehicles and in loading them with ammunition. His courage and devotion to duty reflect the highest credit upon Corporal Sikorski and the United States Naval Service.
