The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Captain Aram S. Rejebian (MCSN: 0-10802), United States Marine Corps Reserve, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity as Operations Officer of the First Battalion, Twenty-Sixth Marines, FIFTH Marine Division, in action against enemy Japanese forces on Iwo Jima, Volcano Islands, 21 February 1945. When his Battalion became badly disorganized under heavy enemy shelling, Captain Rejebian moved forward from the Battalion Observation Post and found the center company decimated by casualties, including the Company Commander and Executive Officer. Undaunted by the intense hostile fire, he skillfully reorganized the company and, reestablishing contact with the remainder of the Battalion, successfully led the forward attack until the arrival of a relief Company Commander. His courageous leadership, determination and devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
