The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Corporal Harry T. Price (MCSN: 452851), United States Marine Corps, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity while serving as a squad leader of Company E, Second Battalion, Twenty-third Marines, FOURTH Marine Division in action against enemy Japanese forces on Iwo Jima, Volcano Islands on 28 February 1945. Observing that fire from an enemy tank was holding up the advance of his company, Corporal Price seized a satchel charge and despite heavy machine gun fire ran up to the tank and placed the charge to destroy the hostile vehicle and permit his company to resume its advance. His courageous initiative and resourcefulness were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
