The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Staff Sergeant Phillip Ricca (ASN: 39044893), United States Army Air Forces, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight while serving as a Ball Turret Gunner in the 766th Bombardment Squadron, 461st Bombardment Group (Heavy), in action against an armed enemy over Austria, on 10 May 1944. His outstanding courage and dedication to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army Air Forces.
