The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star (Army Award) to Corporal Stanley F. Ogrodnik, Jr. (MCSN: 290488), United States Marine Corps, for gallantry in action at New Georgia, Solomon Islands, while leading his squad under heavy fire in repeated assaults upon hostile strong points during which two enemy machine-gun crews were eliminated on 8 July 1943, and numerous casualties were inflicted on the enemy on 20 July 1943.
