The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Army Award) (Posthumously) to Corporal Robert L. Mulford (MCSN: 290745), United States Marine Corps, for gallantry in action at New Georgia, Solomon Islands, on 10 July 1943. When his platoon was pinned down by enemy fire Corporal Mulford retrieved a Browning Automatic Rifle from a casualty and led his squad forward in an assault on hostile positions.
