The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Corporal Felix Macias (MCSN: 336328), United States Marine Corps, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity while serving with Company F, Second Battalion, Second Marines, SECOND Marine Division, in action against enemy Japanese forces on Tinian, Mariana Islands, 27 July 1944. When his squad was pinned down by intense hostile fire, Corporal Macias bravely advanced alone to carry out a hand-grenade attack on the enemy position and, when his own supply of ammunition was exhausted, captured some enemy grenades to continue the fight. Directing a tank forward to the Japanese emplacements, he remained with the vehicle and directed its fire on the enemy. His courage and devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
