Allan Packer served at a Fighter Pilot in the Army Air Forces in World War II, during which service he was shot down, captured and held as a Prisoner of War. After the war he was appointed to and graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Class of 1950. He retired in 1975 as a U.S. Air Force Colonel.
