The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Private First Class Thomas D. Frasier (MCSN: 447894), United States Marine Corps Reserve, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity while serving in a Rifle Platoon of Company I, Third Battalion, First Marines, FIRST Marine Division, in action against enemy Japanese forces on Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands, 6 May 1945. Braving intense hostile fire after his unit had made several unsuccessful attempts to destroy a Japanese strong point, Private First Class Frasier worked his way forward to attack the position and annihilate ten of the enemy, thereby enabling his company to advance. His courageous fighting spirit and devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
