    The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Major Donald P. Frame (MCSN: 0-7066), United States Marine Corps, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight on 3 April 1945. As pilot of a carrier-based fighter aircraft Major Frame served as the coordinator of an attack by 41 planes from three groups on three important airfields of the enemy. His judgment, intelligent direction and able leadership in the face of intense and accurate anti-aircraft fire resulted in the destruction of a number of the enemy aircraft as well as the infliction of extensive damage to airfield installations and other military objectives. His courage and skill in carrying out his duties and in the successful accomplishment of the assigned mission was at all times in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.

    The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Major Donald P. Frame (MCSN: 0-7066), United States Marine Corps, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity while serving as Pilot of a Fighter Plane in Marine Fighting Squadron ONE HUNDRED TWENTY-THREE (VMF-123), in action against enemy Japanese forces on Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands, 12 April 1945. When a hostile formation was detected approaching our surface units, Major Frame climbed to meet the enemy planes despite a defective engine. Maneuvering skillfully in the face of intense antiaircraft fire from ships of our Task Group, he intercepted and shot down one of the Japanese planes. His superb airmanship and gallant fighting spirit reflect the highest credit upon Major Frame and the United States Naval Service.
