The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Major Donald P. Frame (MCSN: 0-7066), United States Marine Corps, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight on 3 April 1945. As pilot of a carrier-based fighter aircraft Major Frame served as the coordinator of an attack by 41 planes from three groups on three important airfields of the enemy. His judgment, intelligent direction and able leadership in the face of intense and accurate anti-aircraft fire resulted in the destruction of a number of the enemy aircraft as well as the infliction of extensive damage to airfield installations and other military objectives. His courage and skill in carrying out his duties and in the successful accomplishment of the assigned mission was at all times in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
