The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918 (amended by an act of July 25, 1963), takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Silver Star to Major William P. Robinson (AFSN: 0-45478), United States Air Force, for gallantry in connection with military operations against an opposing armed force near Phu Tho, North Vietnam on 8 July 1966. On that date, Major Robinson led a flight in support of a large strike force. Hostile SA-2 surface-to-air missiles were detected which posed an immediate threat to the strike aircraft. With complete disregard for his own safety, and in the face of continuous heavy to intense ground fire of all types, Major Robinson attacked and destroyed two missile installations. This courageous and aggressive action removed the threat of missile attack against the strike force. By his gallantry and devotion to duty, Major Robinson has reflected great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918 (amended by an act of July 25, 1963), takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Major William P. Robinson (AFSN: 0-45478), United States Air Force, for gallantry in connection with military operations against an opposing armed force near Hanoi, North Vietnam, on 29 June 1966. On that date, while piloting a specially equipped F-105 Thunderchief, Major Robinson led a flight which successfully protected a large strike force from deadly SA-2 surface-to-air missiles. In so doing, Major Robinson willfully and with complete disregard for his own safety, pressed his attack in the face of intense hostile ground fire. This courageous and aggressive act greatly reduced the missile threat, thereby allowing striking aircraft to achieve outstanding success. By his gallantry and devotion to duty, Major Robinson has reflected great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Title 10, Section 8742, United States Code, takes pleasure in presenting the Air Force Cross to Major William Perry Robinson (AFSN: 0-45478), United States Air Force, for extraordinary heroism in military operations against an opposing armed force as Pilot of an F-105 Thunderchief of the 13th Tactical Fighter Squadron, Korat Royal Thai Air Base, Thailand, in action near Hanoi, North Vietnam, on 5 July 1966. On that date, Major Robinson, piloting a specially equipped F-105 Thunderchief, led a flight against hostile SA-2 surface-to-air missile sites which threatened other strike aircraft tasked to destroy a high priority target. With complete disregard for his personal safety, Major Robinson responded professionally in the face of continuous heavy and intense ground fire of all types and attacked four separate missile complexes. Three of the four sites were completely destroyed, and the remaining site sustained extensive damage. This courageous and aggressive action considerably reduced the missile threat against the other strike force. Through his extraordinary heroism, superb airmanship, and aggressiveness in the face of hostile forces, Major Robinson reflected the highest credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

Robinson (AFSN: 0-45478), United States Air Force, for heroism while participating in aerial flight as a Pilot near Hanoi, North Vietnam on 14 August 1966. On that date, while piloting a specially equipped F-105F Thunderchief, Major Robinson led his flight in an attack against a hostile SA-2 surface-to-air missile installation. With complete disregard for his own safety, and in the face of continuous ground fire, missile firings, and an attack by hostile aircraft, Major Robinson pressed the attack and was instrumental in the destruction of the site. The outstanding heroism and selfless devotion to duty displayed by Major Robinson reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
