The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to First Lieutenant David H. Williams (AFSN: 0-3133822), United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-105 Electronics Warfare Officer over North Vietnam on 12 July 1967. On that date, while under intense and accurate fire from opposing forces, Lieutenant Williams demonstrated great courage, undaunted determination and superior skill in pressing home a devastating air attack against hostile positions. Persevering in the face of danger and death, his relentless action effectively aided in neutralizing one hostile surface-to-air missile site and one anti-aircraft site. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Lieutenant Williams reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
