The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting a Second Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Third Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross with Combat “V” to Lieutenant Colonel Theodore Wilson Guy (AFSN: 0-1911304), United States Air Force, for heroism while participating in aerial flight as an F-4C aircraft commander in Southeast Asia on 2 January 1968. On that date, Colonel Guy led a flight of F-4C fighter-bombers on a mission against hostile gun positions which threatened friendly aircraft. Disregarding the heavy flak and intense automatic weapons fire, as well as deteriorating weather conditions, he led the flight on repeated attacks which silenced multiple gun positions. Colonel Guy’s aggressiveness, courage, leadership and overall professional performance in the face of intense hostile opposition contributed very significantly to the success of the United States Air Force mission in Southeast Asia. The outstanding heroism and selfless devotion to duty displayed by Colonel Guy reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
