The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Air Force Distinguished Service Medal to Colonel Theodore Wilson Guy (AFSN: 0-1911304), United States Air Force, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service in a position of great responsibility to the Government of the United States. Colonel Guy distinguished himself as the senior American officer in command of Prisoners of War who were interned in three different prison compounds from 11 June 1970 to 17 March 1973. During this period, under the most adverse conditions of confinement, the outstanding and dedicated efforts of Colonel Guy were instrumental in the development of a highly successful resistance program to thwart the efforts of the North Vietnamese propaganda and interrogation personnel. By his personal leadership and steadfast loyalty to his country, he was an outstanding example for his personnel to emulate. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of Colonel Guy reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
