The President of the United States of America takes pride in presenting the Silver Star (Posthumously) to Private First Class Billie Frank Bradshaw (MCSN: 1079489), United States Marine Corps, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity while serving as a Member of a Mortar Squad of the 4.2″ Mortar Company, Seventh Marines, FIRST Marine Division (Reinforced), in action against enemy aggressor forces in Korea on 2 November 1950. During a vicious counterattack by a numerically superior enemy force employing small arms, hand grenades and machine guns, Private First Class Bradshaw steadfastly remained at his post and engaged the enemy in fierce hand-to-hand combat until he fell, mortally wounded. His outstanding courage, valiant fighting spirit, and unwavering devotion to duty in the face of overwhelming odds reflect great credit upon Private First Class Bradshaw and the United States Naval Service. He gallantly gave his life for his country.
