Headquarters, 8th Air Force, General Orders No. 304 (April 24, 1944)

The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain (Air Corps) Magee C. Fuller (ASN: 0-1699243), United States Army Air Forces, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight while leading a group of B-17 airplanes on a bombardment mission over Germany on 4 March 1944. Due to extremely adverse weather conditions a large part of the formation failed to reach the assigned target. Exhibiting determination and skill, Captain Fuller maintained his position in the wing formation and continued on to successfully bomb a heavily defended military objective. Though without fighter support for two hours during the return journey, he maneuvered his Group out of enemy territory, holding losses to a minimum. The courage, tenacity of purpose and skillful leadership displayed by Captain Fuller were in large measure responsible for the success achieved on this important mission.
