The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Airman’s Medal to Staff Sergeant Kenneth Allan Strong, United States Air Force, for heroism involving voluntary risk of life near Ponca City, Oklahoma, in Northwestern Oklahoma, on 9 March 1980. On that date, Sergeant Strong became aware that a companion was drowning. With complete disregard for his own safety he plunged into the forty degree water and persevered in his humanitar4ian efforts and succeeded in pulling the victim to safety. By his courageous action and humanitarian regard for his fellowman, Sergeant Strong has reflected great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
