Thomas Crow served in the Vietnam War, both aboard ship off the coast and on the ground in-country. He served as the fourth Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy, retiring in 1982. He died on November 30, 2008 and is buried at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, California.

His singularly distinctive accomplishments and his dedicated contributions in the service of his country reflect the highest credit upon himself and were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
