The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross with Combat “V” to Captain Glenn D. Scott, United States Air Force, for heroism while participating in aerial flight as a B-52D Navigator near Hanoi, North Vietnam on 28 December 1972. On that date, despite intensive attack by surface-to-air missiles, Captain Scott heroically provided the navigation to permit the successful delivery of the aircraft’s ordnance on the assigned target. His exceptional self-discipline and heroic acts were instrumental in the safe egress of his aircraft. The outstanding heroism and selfless devotion to duty displayed by Captain Scott reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
